JALISA BASS
RESEARCH COORDINATOR | JOHNS HOPKINS SCHOOL OF MEDICINE
Jalisa received her B.S. in Psychology with a minor in Biological Sciences from Kent State University. She is involved in several studies including vestibular therapy clinical trials in patients with Alzheimer's disease, as well as pain and MRI image quality in patients who undergo cochlear implant surgery. Her research interests focus on investigating health outcomes for disabled and disadvantaged communities with the objective of improving patient education and overall quality of life. Jalisa loves traveling, skating, and playing piano in her free time outside of the lab.
COURTNEY WALKER
RESEARCH SUPERVISOR| JOHNS HOPKINS SCHOOL OF MEDICINE
Courtney received her Master’s degree in Applied Sociology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Her research focus is in the social dimensions of health, illness, and medicine. As the research project coordinator for the clinical trial of vestibular therapy in patients with Alzheimer’s Disease, Courtney aims to continue her work in uplifting the voices of those traditionally underserved and to positively affect our social climate. Courtney also loves to sew, garden, listen to, and play, music.
MACIE PILE
RESEARCH ASSISTANT | JOHNS HOPKINS SCHOOL OF MEDICINE
Macie received a BA in Biological Sciences from Goucher College. She is involved in several studies, ranging from falls and vestibular function in individuals with Alzheimer’s disease to spatial navigation in individuals with vestibular loss. She is interested in the effects of vestibular loss on different age groups. In her free time, Macie enjoys roller skating and reading.
DOMINIC PADOVA
RESEARCH TECHNOLOGIST | JOHNS HOPKINS SCHOOL OF MEDICINE
Dominic received a Bachelors in Biomedical Engineering with a Mathematics minor in 2017 from The Catholic University of America in Washington D.C. In 2019, he received an M.S. in Applied and Computational Mathematics at Johns Hopkins University, where he focused on computational anatomy, helping to develop deformable 3D animal brain models under the supervision of Dr. J. Tilak Ratnanather. Dominic is interested in studying the links between vestibular function and the effects of neuropsychiatric disorders on anatomy, and he loves to train Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
ILAHI CREARY-MILLER
RESEARCH COORDINATOR | JOHNS HOPKINS SCHOOL OF MEDICINE
Ilahi is a recent cum laude graduate of Howard University, having received a BS in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. Her research interests range from microbiological research to exploring the effects of cognitive impairment in elderly patients. At Hopkins her primary focuses are tracking falls while also studying vestibular function and the impact that Alzheimer’s disease and Dementia have on them. Outside of the lab Ilahi is heavily involved in the community. She enjoys volunteering at the Children’s National Hospital on weekends and also doing yoga, Pilates and cooking.
